Choosing the perfect university to study at is crucial in life as it can determine just how far you will go intellectually. So with this in mind here are 10 of the world’s best emerging universities in reverse order, to help you when making your choice.

The University of Antwerp

The University of Antwerp in Belgium has been around since 1971 and in 2013/2014 it was ranked 185 in the QS world rankings. For teaching it gained a score of 34.5 and it has 620 tenured professors along with 2,478 tenured researchers. It received a total score of 100 for entrepreneurship and for research it scores 33.2.

The Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona

Established since 1968 the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona holds the rank of 17. For scores it managed to get a teaching score of 30.6. There are 3,514 researches along with teaching staff at the university and it scored 28 for research. During 2012/2013 they spend 57.07 million Euros and the industry income received a score of 39.1 thanks to 53 spin off companies that have been set up during 2012/2013.

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University has been established since 1994 and it holds a position of 161 in the QS Work University Rankings. It has 1,250 academic staff members and a score of 28.4 for teaching. The industry income score is 40.3, plus it has a research score of 35.7. Since 2011/2012 the university has 2,769 projects underway.

The Maastricht University

At position number 122 is the Maastricht University in the Netherlands, which was established in 1967. It has a score of 33.1 and employs academic staff totalling 1,815. For research it gets a score of 47.1 and industrial income it score 98.2.

The Pohang University of Science and Technology: POSTECH

In South Korea there is the Pohang University of Science and Technology, which started out in 1986 and holds a ranking of 106. The university has 411 members of staff and a teaching score of 54.2. The research score is 49.0 and there is a total of 788 researchers. For the industry income score this is 100.

City University of Hong Kong

The City University of Hong Kong started out in 1984 and at the moment it holds the 104 position in the QS World University Rankings. For teaching the score is 30.9 and staff members total 806. There are ample research centres at the university and research score is 33.5. The industry score comes in at 55.7.

Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST)

In South Korea there is the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. The university was established in 1971 and it holds the 60th position in the QS World University Rankings. It has a research score of 60, with contracted research projects during 2012 coming in at 1,809. It has an industry income score of 100 and a teaching score of 65.6.

Nanyang Technological University (NTU)

The Nanyan Technological University in Singapore was established in 1991 and at the moment it holds the 41st QS World University Ranking position. It has a 37.7 teaching score along with a research score of 54.3 and industry income score of 100.

Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST)

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) comes in second on the list and has the ranking of 34th in the QS World University Rankings. There is a total of 174 faculties when it comes to engineering and it comes in with a score of 52.4 for teaching along with a research score of 59.7. The industry income score for the university is 58.5.

National University of Sciences of Technology, Pakistan

And in first on the list is the National University of Sciences and Technology which was established in 1991 in Pakistan. While the university started out life in 1991, the main campus, from which the ranking has been based was actually established in 2008. This campus was built over a whole sector in Islamabad and it has a ranking in the QS World University Rankings which is among the top 500 universities of the world.

The university has consistently managed to earn a place in the top 500 universities in the shortest amount of time, in comparison to other universities of a size that is similar. Entrepreneurial opportunities are offered to the students, who can bring in an idea and then have the chance of a portal to industry. Links are being built fast to more industries in Pakistan and abroad to aid the students. For research and faculty it is one of the leaders in Pakistan and in just a short amount of time it has been able to make a name for itself. It has received the International Quality Award in 2014 at the Asia Pacific Quality Network Conference and Annual General Meeting, this was held in Vietnam.
