The Role

We have opportunities for Electrical Engineer(s) who are chartered or working towards chartership, looking for technically challenging work on cutting – edge projects; to join our established Building Engineering Team in London.

Our aspiration as engineers is to design market-leading, Electrical Engineering Systems that push the boundaries and create a lasting legacy. We work in an interdisciplinary environment and aim to formulate Electrical Engineering Systems that maximise value for our clients whilst minimising the environmental impact.

 You will play an active role in all stages of our projects from feasibility through to completion on diverse assignments, across a number of sectors.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead electrical teams and assist in team development
  • Supervise and co-ordinate the work of others including engineers of other disciplines
  • Manage a project team to ensure production of deliverables to agreed timelines and within budget
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members
  • Forecasting time requirements to deliver the relevant high quality output
  • Undertake electrical design elements for projects of varying scales
  • Work closely with Clients, Contractors and Architects
  • Manage the production of drawings
  • Prepare and co-ordinate electrical reports and specifications
  • Attend meetings and communicate with clients to establish their needs
  • Day to day management of projects and wider project team
  • Accountability and management for production of electrical design for projects
  • Development of internal and external project team relationships 

The sheer breath of knowledge and experience on offer as part of this role; which the successful candidate can utilise and draw upon; is vast with over 100 Electrical Engineers currently working for Arup in London. This abundance of talent is organised into a number of independent Groups with up to 20 Electrical Engineers per Group.

Currently the Electrical Engineering Teams in London are involved with over 100 projects world-wide from concept design through to practical completion covering commercial, residential, airports, railways, hotels, sports stadia, swimming pools, museums, laboratories and many other specialist building types. 

In terms of high-profile well known projects that the Arup Electrical Team in London have been instrumental working on, these include the following:
