Caterpillar Peterlee is the global centre for Articulated Truck Product Development and Manufacture. In its 40 year history, the facility has continued to expand to its current 50 acre campus, with over 500,000 square feet of manufacturing space and over 1000 employees. The Market leading product line up features 6 variants ranging from a 725C (239kW/23.6 tonne payload) to the 740B (365kW/39.5 tonne payload). Over 90% of production from Peterlee is exported around the world, across various applications including Mining, Construction, Quarry & Aggregates.

Based in the Product Engineering team at the Peterlee facility, the key role of this position is to assist our experienced engineers, whilst gaining an understanding of Caterpillar’s business, products, systems, and procedures; to learn and develop skills that will result from the practical application of basic engineering knowledge.
During your placement, you could be be involved in various activities within the Product Design, Test & Development and New Product Introduction departments, investigating the efficiencies of current products, making design changes and optimising designs to ensure we are at the forefront of our competitors.
Whilst on placement, you are given the support and coaching required that will develop your technical capability and business understanding.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate teamwork, professionalism and an enthusiasm for engineering. You should be comfortable with the gathering and analysis of data, and have proven planning and organisational skills. A desire to succeed and develop is vital.
On target to achieve a minimum of 2:1 honours degree level in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering and Mechatronics.
