The Pininfarina Fuoriserie is a luxury designer electric bike from Pininfarina, who have been behind the design of luxury cars such as Maserati, Ferrari and Alfa Romeo. The company began in the 80s and now the Italian design firm has started to branch out into different types of products, one of which is the Fuoriserie, a house-brand e-bike.

The company came up with the idea for the Fuoriserie from tailor-made cars of the Thirties. The interlaced leather which the company used on the saddle and the grips of the handlebars copy the leather interior which was seen on the 1936 Lancia Astura Bocca, which Pininfarina also designed.

43 Milano, the Italian bicycle maker, built the bike for Pininfarina and the frame has been designed from chrome-plated hand-welded Dedacciai Zero DR chromoly steel tubing. On the top tube there is a walnut briar-root wood veneer. The bike comes fitted with a BLB Pista Vera crank set, Campagnolo Veloce rim brakes, aluminium rims from H Plus Son, Nokon Carl Stahl articulated aluminium brake cable housings and Kevlar-reinforced Panaracer Rimbo tires at 700 x 28C.

The designer bike has been fitted with a hub dynamo-powered light system courtesy of the Germany company Supernova and it also includes a 250 lumen LED headlight.

To boost the pedalling power of the rider the bike comes fitted with a rear hub motor, this is 250-watt from ZeHus Bike+. This allows the rider to reach up to a 25 km/h maximum speed. The lithium-ion battery can be charged by the person pedaling the bike when they are on flat roads and through regenerative braking, which means that the bike may not need to be plugged in for it to charge.

Pininfarina are producing just 30 units of the designer luxury electric bike and while there is no word on the price tag just yet, we’re pretty sure it isn’t going to come cheap.
