Music students learn to both love and dread the sound of a metronome. The timekeeping pieces are bad enough in the singular form. But 100 metronomes seems like insanity. However, this video shows 100 metronomes, all starting at different tempos and at different points, slowly syncing up to the same tempo and direction.
Curious as to how it works? Check out the table’s movements for a hint. Still stumped? The metronomes transfer the energy to the table/platform underneath. That energy then disperses to the other metronomes, and this event occurs 100 times each beat.
