5-Year-Old Boy Takes Mom’s Car to the Highway to Go Buy Himself a Lamborghini

A 5-year-old boy, who apparently was not satisfied with Hot Wheels, was caught driving his parents’ car on a freeway in Utah on Monday — apparently on his way to California to buy a Lamborghini with $3 dollars in his wallet. Talk about dreaming big!
The story has been now shared on Twitter by Utah Highway Patrol with thousands of people interacting with it.
One of our Troopers in Weber Co. initiated a traffic stop on what he thought was an impaired driver. Turns out it was this young man, age 5, somehow made his way up onto the freeway in his parents' car. While the Twitter post states the boy left with the car after having a fight with his mother, this was apparently untrue since the patrol trooper who stopped the boy clarified that his parents had left the boy in his sibling's care when he ran away from home.

Apparently, at about 12:15 p.m., the patrol trooper in question was trying to catch a speeder when he came across what he initially thought was an impaired driver or someone experiencing a medical emergency traveling at 32 mph in a 70 mph zone, BuzzFeed News reports.
However, a surprise was waiting for the officers who initiated the stop: A small boy, on the verge of crying, was sitting on the edge of the seat with both feet on the brake pedal.
This video shows the officers stopping the light-colored compact SUV, which is moving across lanes without using any turning signals.
After that, the video shows the officer exiting the vehicle and helping the child park and turn the engine off. The trooper can be heard saying "How old are you? You're 5 years old? Wow. Where did you learn to drive a car?"
The officer learned that the kid's intended destination was California, which is at least 800 miles away.
While this news has a humorous side, it is clear that someone could have been hurt. As of now, it is not known whether the parents will face charges. Whatever the result is, a punishment is surely awaiting the boy at home.
