A 4,784 Piece LEGO Star Wars Imperial Star Destroyer to Hit Store Shelves Soon

Star Wars and LEGO fans can rejoice, later in September, they will be able to get their hands on what is being billed as one of the biggest LEGO Star Wars sets to hit the market.

The Imperial Star Destroyer LEGO set, which pays homage to the Galactic Empire ship comes in at 4,784 pieces and will be on store shelves on 1 October. Members of Lego's VIP program will be able to get their's 18 September. That's granted they have the $699 it will set them back.

Imperial Star Destroyer will set you back $700 

The Imperial Star Destroyer, which is part of the company's Ultimate Collector Series, is over 17 inches high and 26 inches wide. It claims to capture all the authentic details of the starship as it appeared in the opening scene of Star Wars: A New Hope. That means Star Wars fans will get to interact with swiveling guns, a tilting radar dish, and a buildable scale version of the Rebel's Tantive IV starship. Even the bad guys need something to chase down.  The set also includes a display stand with informational fact plaque and two imperial minifigures. Without the stand, the Imperial Destroyer is 14 inches high. 

The Ultimate Collectors Series is a line of LEGO sets the company developed with collectors in mind. They are more money than the other sets LEGO sells. Previous Star Wars related sets include the Millenium Falcon, The Betrayal at Cloud City and the Death Star. The now-famous Millennium Falcon cost $799.99. Outside of Star Wars, LEGO collectible sets cover popular movies and series including Harry Potter and Stranger Things. 

LEGO experiments with audio, braille instructions 

For decades now LEGO bricks have been the darling of children and adults around the world. The success of its Ultimate Collector Series over the years underscores that. But Lego is always on a quest to expand its audience and it took a step to do that in late August when it announced it will pilot audio and braille based instructions.  The first four instructions to be launched for this free service, which is in English, include a set from LEGO Classic, LEGO City, LEGO Friends and LEGO Movie 2. LEGO said depending on the feedback it will collect until the end of this year, it will launch more audio and braille instructions in the first half of 2020.
