A New Massive Underwater Space Station is In the Making

Humanity is on its way to discover each and every part of our universe and obviously, the world itself. And now, it's underwater exploration's turn to be spoken about.
The recent design called Proteus by Yves Behar and Fabien Cousteau is a giant under-water research station and habitat. Proteus is planned to be placed underwater, away from the coast of Curaçao, a Dutch Caribbean island.

As vital as space exploration
The station is expected to be the home to all scientists who are willing to study the ocean in every detail. Especially the effects of climate change on marine life.
The designer Yves Behar and Fabien Cousteau took this step for what they considered vital.
"Ocean exploration is 1,000 times more important than space exploration for -- selfishly -- our survival, for our trajectory into the future," Cousteau said in a video call. "It's our life support system. It is the very reason why we exist in the first place," reported CNN.
Another contribution to underwater
"At 4,000 square feet, Proteus will be three or four times the size of any previously built sub marine habitats, accommodating up to twelve people at once."
Béhar explains in his statement. "Additionally, the station will be designed to gather as much light as possible from windows, on the top, and around the sides of the structure."
Apart from the only other operational underwater station called the Aquarius Reef Base, operated by Florida International University and used by NASA, this new design can make an additional difference in the study of oceans as well.
In fact, Proteus is planned to be the ocean-station type of International Space Station (ISS). Hence, government agencies, scientists, and private sector associates are expected to come up with new findings on their studies in this new giant laboratory.
