Apple Announces Plans to Open $1 Billion Dollar Campus in Austin
Apple is set to open a $1 billion dollar campus in Austin, Texas, as part of its mission to create 20,000 jobs in the United States. Austin is already home to a large Apple campus that employs over 6,000 people.
The new office will be spread out over 133 acres less than a mile away from the existing Apple campus. The campus will have 50,00 acres of open space and like all Apple owned property in the US will be powered by 100% renewable energy.

Campus powered by 100% renewable energy
The campus will have a maximum capacity of 10, 000 workers, but will initially hold 5,00 employees. The new Austin office will have a broad range of functions including engineering departments, R&D, operations, finance, sales, and customer support.

Once open, Apple will be Austin's biggest employer. “Apple has been a vital part of the Austin community for a quarter century, and we are thrilled that they are deepening their investment in our people and the city we love,” said Austin Mayor, Steve Adler.

Apple will open smaller offices to stride towards jobs goal
Apple also announced it will open new smaller offices in Seattle, San Diego, and Culver City over the next three years, each hosting more than a 100 employees each. Apple has been creating new jobs at an astonishing rate over the last few years.
The California based company added 6000 new jobs to its North American workforce in 2018 alone. More than 90,000 Americans are now employed by the tech giant across the country.
Apple expands across all states
The company hopes to create 20,000 new jobs by 2023. "Apple is proud to bring new investment, jobs, and opportunity to cities across the United States and to significantly deepen our quarter-century partnership with the city and people of Austin,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.
