Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak Believes People Should Quit Facebook
Apple's co-founder, Steve Wozniak, thinks that everyone should join him in deleting their Facebook accounts.
The 'Woz,' as he is sometimes referred to, doesn't have a personal vendetta against Facebook per se.
His words and actions are geared towards safeguarding the public's private data, which is being more and more interfered with by massive online technology firms.
Online privacy issue
Wozniak was stopped and questioned while at Washington D.C.'s Reagan International Airport, by TMZ about what he thinks or knows about our devices listening to our private conversations.
"You should figure out a way to get off Facebook," said Wozniak.
The video of the interview can be watched here:
"Who knows if my cellphone is listening right now," cautioned and questioned Wozniak.
Wozniak continued "There are many different kinds of people, and for some the benefits of Facebook are worth the loss of privacy," he told TMZ. "But to many like myself, my recommendation is - to most people - you should figure a way to get off Facebook."
Apple's co-founder deleted his account in 2018 amidst the Cambridge Analytica scandal in March. The issue was the discovery that many private firms were using private data from Facebook in order to manipulate the 2016 Presidential Elections, in favor of President Donald Trump.
Woz is worried about the way our privacy is being used by our ever-evolving technological advances. He stated: "But, everything about you...I mean, they can measure your heartbeat with lasers now, they can listen to you with a lot of devices. Alexa has already been in the news a lot lately."
He voices the concern that many people connected online worry over regularly.
Let people pay for their privacy
"People think they have a level of privacy - they don't," said Wozniak.
His solution? Let everyone pay for their privacy.
The question about whether or not people would end up paying for their Facebook subscriptions remains to be answered, but it's certainly a valid option for some people.
