Who doesn't love a good emoji? These little icons have become a regular part of our messaging lives and in order to keep them fresh, relevant, and inclusive, new emojis are added to the list each year.

iOS will welcome new emojis in the second half of 2020, and the list is finally out! Given it's World Emoji Day today, Friday 17 July, the timing is impeccable.

An emoji for almost every occasion

Apple has shared a preview of what the new emojis will look like, and it's exciting.

Some of these are a festive piñata, a Dodo bird, a boomerang, and Russian doll, bubble tea, and more.

All of the new emojis have been approved by Unicode, the organization that decides the standard for consistent encoding, representation and handling of text express through most of the world's writing systems.

These will be a part of Emoji 13.0, the list of emojis that was announced in January this year. It takes until now for the official release to be completed as each platform vendor has to create its own design for each emoji. So operating system updates have to get up to date before the official launch goes ahead.
