Elon Musk has always had a troublesome relationship to Twitter, but now it looks like he is going to get some professional help. Rumors are swirling that Tesla has hired Adam Koszary the man behind the viral “Absolute unit” Tweet to run the company's social media campaigns.

Koszary is the program manager for the UK’s Reading Museum and Museum of English Rural Life (@TheMERL). The account blew up last year when it posted a historical image of a sheep with the caption “Look at this absolute unit.”

The tweet has now been retweeted more than 31,000 times and has over 111,000 likes. Musk was a huge fan of the Tweet changing his own Twitter profile to the sheep and his bio to “Absolute Unit.” The @TheMERL responded by changing their profile to a picture of Elon Musk.

Musk loves Twitter - But does Twitter love Musk?

Musk is a big fan of Twitter using it to both make serious business announcements as well as a lot of personal opinions and ramblings a couple of which got him in serious trouble. The most damaging was likely the Tweet that suggested he was going to take the company private.

On August 7 last year Musk tweeted “Am considering taking Tesla private at $420. Funding secured.” The surprise announcement caused a 10 percent surge in value in Tesla shares, but the excitement soon wore off after Musk backed out of the claims.

However, not before the Securities Exchange Commission noticed what was going on and launched an investigation that resulted in both Musk and Tesla being fined 20 million dollars.

"Pedo guy" never forgotten

The next on the list for poor taste tweeting was the time Elon Musk accused a British national of being a ‘pedo’ after he criticized Musk's involvement in the well-publicized rescue of a Thai soccer team from a flooded cave. The supported accusation came after Vern Unsworth a British national advising rescuers told the media that Musk’s “child submarine” was a stupid idea.

Musk retaliated calling Unsworth a ‘pedo’ and questioning why a British male would live in Thailand. Unsworth was obviously shocked by the allegations Musk laid against him, telling media at the time that he was “astonished and very angry” at the attack.

Musk promises to reign it in

It wasn't just Unsworth shocked by Musk's tweets. James Anderson, Tesla’s fourth-largest shareholder, told media at the time he was disappointed in Musk's behavior saying, “I intend to convey my – predictable I trust – feelings to the company tomorrow.”

Musk's good behavior on Twitter shouldn't be overlooked though. There was the time he offered to fix the Flint water crisis and let’s not forget his memorable April's Fools joke.

It is being reported that Koszary will start with Tesla in July. Elon musk famously deleted his own, and all of his companies' Facebook pages after the Cambridge Analytica scandal so there is a smaller package of sites for Koszary to oversee.
