Electric Face-Off: Tesla Model Y vs Ford Mustang Mach-E
Tesla has been the pioneer in the electric car sector for a while now. But it seems like the new Ford Mustang Mach-E will be the biggest competitor of Tesla, especially Model Y which will be released in 2020.
On Sunday, Ford announced Mustang Mach-E on its official Twitter account by saying, "Zero gas. Zero emissions. 100% exhilaration."

Since Tesla's Model Y will have a big competitor in the market, here's a comparison of both vehicles.
Size
Ford Mustang Mach-E is actually a small car with 186 inches length. The exact size of Model Y is not revealed yet but according to Tesla, Model Y will be based on the Model 3 platform, and Model 3 is 184.8 inches long.

Battery Capacity
Ford Mach-E has a total battery capacity of 98.8 kWh with extended range battery. The battery capacity for Model Y isn't revealed by Tesla yet, but if we consider the capacity of Model 3 again, it can be said that the long-range performance will have an estimated total capacity of 75 kWh.

Charging Speed
Ford Mach-E has the charging speed of 150 kW, again based on Model 3, Model Y is expected to have the charging speed of 250 kW.

Horsepower
Ford Mach-E will produce 332 horsepower while Model Y, based on Model 3, will produce a little over 400 horsepower.

Acceleration
The fastest version of Tesla Model Y can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds while the fastest version of Mach-E can accelerate in mid-3 seconds.

Starting Price
The starting price of Model Y is expected to be around $39,000. The price of the base model of Mach-E is $43,895.

Maximum Range
According to Tesla and Ford, both Mach-E and Model Y will have a maximum range of 300 miles.

Passengers
Model Y can have 7 people in the car while for Mach-E it's 5 people.

Semi-autonomous Driver Assistance System
Both cars will have a semi-autonomous driver assistance system. This system can be responsible for steering, braking, and sometimes, acceleration. However, drivers must be awake and careful all the time even when semi-autonomous driver assistance mod on, and the driver should always take control of the car.

Glad to see Ford getting into the EV game. Don’t really see the new car as compelling but it’s a much better start than Jaguar and Audi.
