Someone on eBay is selling a used gold PAL Commodore C64.

This would be a great deal if it were real.

Commodore USA took to Facebook to warn potential buyers not to fall for what they says is a fake system.

Despite being halfway through its five-day duration, the system hasn't reached its minimum price yet. It's currently listed at 41.50 Euro (roughly $46 USD).

The massively popular Commodore 8-bit home computer sold nearly 17 million units worldwide. Introduced in 1982, it went down in the Guinness World Records as the best-selling single computer model ever.

During the mid-1980s, the C64 units had almost 40 percent of the market, with 2 million sold each year.

Some call the system the "Model T" of home computing. However, the resell value on functioning Commodores doesn't get nearly as high as one would hope.

Most C64 systems, even in pristine condition, don't bring in more than $60 USD. Cartridges add to the resell value, but only if they've been lightly used.
