Sometimes you come across some news that is just so delightfully funny and entertaining that you cannot help but smile. This is just such a story.

It all started six weeks ago when Phil Heckels, 38, was trying to get his son to draw a card for a family member. In order to inspire the little one, he proceeded to draw a cute but awkward portrait of the family dog.

In order to have some fun, he then posted the drawing to Facebook with a price tag of £299 (around $390). Much to his surprise, the British man received requests from friends asking that he draw a portrait of their pets, and before he even knew it, he was flooded with orders.

Heckels then decided to set up a Facebook page for the drawings under the pseudonym "Hercule Van Wolfwinkle."

He, however, did not feel comfortable taking money for the art and decided to instead donate it to a charity for homeless people called Turning Tides.

"It's an absolute basic human need to have a roof over your head," Heckels told CNN. He added that he has thus far drawn 220 portraits with "well over 1,000 requests" backed up.

The illustrations are funny and entertaining featuring animals with displaced limbs, wobbly eyes, and even occasionally extra legs. In some cases, the likeliness is just amazing.

But for Heckles, it's all about bringing a bit of humor and sunshine into a world plagued by problems such as the coronavirus.

"It is like a little bit of fun and a little bit of light when there isn't much to be cheery about at the minute," he further told CNN. "I would die a happy man if I could spend the rest of my life doing this."

Needless to say, the customers are happy too. One of Hercule's customers even got the drawing of his dog tattooed on himself.

What do you think of Heckles' illustrations? His work definitely reminded us of this father of two very talented kids, who cherishes their creative doodles by turning them into weird-looking digital art pieces.
