McDonald's Launches a Ridiculous Eating Utensil Made of French Fries

Interesting Engineering

If you thought it's tech giants like Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, and Google who know how to execute larger-than-life product launches, think again. McDonald's just put them to shame by launching a new range of Signature Crafted Recipes sandwiches, and it's not only the sandwiches that deserve a lot of attention, it's what comes with them to scoop up the sauce.

Presenting the McDonald's Frork.

What Exactly is This Frork?

The "frork" is a fork made of French fries, and although it is nothing but a gimmick to promote the new line of burgers and sandwiches, you can't ignore the ingenuity. And in case anyone is still wondering, these frorks are not part of a Fools' Day prank. They are really real.

The video’s description, which directs viewers to the website promoting the new line, reads:

McDONALD’S AND ANTHONY SULLIVAN HERE (yes, THAT Anthony Sullivan) for our new favorite utensil. It’s like a fork, but with fries… a fry fork… a Frork™! It’s the perfect(ish) utensil for picking up any premium toppings that may fall out of our new Signature Crafted Recipes burgers and chicken sandwiches.

And that’s not all! Call 1-844-McD-FRORK (623-3767) NOW or visit www.MCDFRORK.com to find out how you might get your very own Frork™.

We can’t WAIT to show you what’s next!

“When savoring these recipes, there’s a hitch you just can’t ditch: The topping dropping,” Sullivan says in the infomercial. “This is a real problem. Wait, sorry is this a real problem? Probably not, but good news we solved it anyway.”

What's the Big Deal About These New Sandwiches? Is There Even a Big Deal?

Well, we can't answer that for you, but the Signature Sandwiches are customizable, premium burgers and chicken sandwiches that feature flavors like Pico Guacamole, Sweet BBQ Bacon, and Maple Bacon Dijon. Essentially what McDonald's is saying, is that their new burgers are full of so much gooey goodness that you'll need a specialized piece of cutlery to lap up the toppings and sauces that spill out into your plate. The sandwiches are priced between $4.99 and $5.19.

A limited supply of Frorks will be available with the purchase of a Signature Crafted Recipes sandwich on May 5 at participating restaurants. In true infomercial style, the ad features a toll-free number that gives callers a chance to get a coupon for a free Signature Crafted Recipes sandwich or a free Frork (the offers have now been exhausted) .
