Electric motorbikes don’t get as much press as their 4-wheeled counterparts but that doesn’t mean they don’t exist and aren’t awesome. One of the leaders of electric motorbikes has just released concept images of its upcoming new model and its impressive.

Evoke Motorcycles is based in Beijing, they turned heads with their first model of electric motorcycle, the Urban Series now they are ready to release a new cruiser to the range. The information regarding the upcoming new model is shared in Micah Toll's article in Electrec.

The Evoke Urban Series features an entirely new drivetrain developed by the company resulting in a significant increase in speed and power.

The latest electric motorcycle from Evoke will be called the Evoke 6061. It gets its name from the bikes twin plate frame body which is created by a precision laser cutting process that cuts out the bike’s frame and battery box from solid T6061 aluminum billet pieces.

All of the powertrain components, battery modules, and tubular subsections are then directly mounted into this elegant sculpture of a frame. The rear swing arm has dual coilover rear shocks.

Impressive stats

The Evoke 6061 has a nice line up of statistics. It uses a 120 kW (160 hp) in-runner motor with a chain final drive. The bike provides over 272 Nm (200 lb-ft) of torque. A  200/55-17 dual compound tire (DCT) will get that power off the ground in the rear, with a matching DCT 140/70-17 up front.

For busy urban life, fast charge is critical and the Evoke 6061 delivers with a Gen 2 battery that is capable of a 0-80% charge in just 15 minutes.

The company boasts that they have developed the software and hardware necessary to precisely control the thermal range of the 18650 battery cells during such rapid charging. Each 6061 will have six batteries, for a combined 15.4 kWh of energy capacity.

Evoke aren’t ready to announce what the top speed of the 6061 will be yet but rumors in the industry suggest it will definitely be fast enough for even the biggest speed freaks.

Launching 2019

Its range also has yet to be revealed but if its main competitors like the Zero SR/F and Lightning Strike, are capable of about 320 km (200 mi) of range, its likely the Evoke cruiser will match or exceed that. Right now the Evoke 6061 is still just a concept bike.

But the company are promising that they will deliver and say they expect to test the first bikes in June this year and may even be able to hit the market before the end of 2019.

If you are keen to get silently racing through your city you’ll want to set aside at least $10, 000. The current Evoke bike sells for about $9,500, but it has significantly lower performance than the 6061.
