Not Your Average CEO: Shop Talk with Autodesk’s Carl Bass
It’s not often that you get to sit face to face with the CEO of a multi-billion dollar company – but Autodesk’s Carl Bass isn’t your average CEO.
On January 20th of next week, the CEO of Autodesk is hosting a webinar to discuss his projects and engage in a little “shop talk” with anyone that wants to join. Carl Bass has always been an unconventional CEO, after all, he has his own maker studio and constantly running mills and lathes. But can you think of the last time you had the opportunity to sit down with the CEO of a company like Autodesk and just talk about making things?

One of the most impressive things about Autodesk in recent years has been the drive to empower the maker. Unlike many engineering and software companies out there that just try to get you to buy their products, Autodesk is all about the future of making things.

This became even more evident to me when I went to Autodesk’s annual event, Autodesk University, this last November. After talking with other guests, I came to the conclusion that the overall goal of Autodesk was clear. They weren’t trying to get me to buy their products, they were trying to empower me as a maker and engineer. It’s refreshing to see this idea in a company, and this idea is even more evident in the fact that their CEO is sitting down and talking about machining and engineering with everyday people.
