Quantum Entanglement Made Data Teleportation Possible between Two Chips

Scientists managed to teleport data between two chips by using quantum entanglement.

Quantum computers have always been a dream for modern scientists since they can solve problems which are too difficult to solve even for the most powerful computers of our day.

Now, scientists from the Univesity of Bristol and the Technical University of Denmark have created "chip-scale devices", world's first chip-to-chip quantum teleportation on silicon, which makes transferring data by using the physical process "quantum entanglement" possible.

Albert Einstein described quantum entanglement as "spooky action at a distance." According to Wikipedia, quantum entanglement is "a label for the observed physical phenomenon that occurs when a pair or group of particles is generated, interact, or share spatial proximity in a way such that the quantum state of each particle of the pair or group cannot be described independently of the state of the others, even when the particles are separated by a large distance."

One of the co-authors Daniel Llewellyn said“We were able to demonstrate a high-quality entanglement link across two chips in the lab, where photons on either chip share a single quantum state. Each chip was then fully programmed to perform a range of demonstrations which utilize the entanglement. The flagship demonstration was a two-chip teleportation experiment, whereby the individual quantum state of a particle is transmitted across the two chips after a quantum measurement is performed. This measurement utilizes the strange behavior of quantum physics, which simultaneously collapses the entanglement link and transfers the particle state to another particle already on the receiver chip.”

The teleportation success of the data was 91%.

This isn't a proof for a successfully-working quantum computer but the ability of two chips to communicate via quantum entanglement is a successful and significant step in building a quantum computer in the future.
