Regional Council of Venice Is Flooded, Seconds after Rejecting Climate Change Measures

For sure you've heard about the flood happened in Venice last week. It was the worst flood of the last 50 years that happened in Venice. And this time, the flood affected The Regional Council of Venice for the first time in history.

Between September and April every year, an event called "acqua alta" can be seen in Venice, which implies the rising of the water up to the knee level. It's usually good for tourists, even people consider themselves lucky when they witness this event, which is actually and mostly horrible for locals though since it destroys most of the buildings.

But this time, "acqua alta" was worse than before. The tides were too high that they caused permanent damage in the buildings of the city and even caused the death of some people.

While this and other things related to global warming appear all around the world, there are still some people push their luck saying global warming isn't a thing.

This happened in Venice too. At the time The Regional Council of Veneto rejected measures to combat climate change, the council was flooded. The right-wing parties at the regional council which are the League, Brothers of Italy and Forza Italia, rejected the plan that was proposed by the Democratic Party about fighting the climate crisis in the 2020 budget.

According to the Facebook post of Democratic Party councilor Andrea Zanoni, "Ironically the room flooded two minutes after the majority League, Brothers of Italy and Forza Italia had rejected our amendments to counter climate change."

The rejected amendments included funding for renewable sources, for electric columns, for the replacement of diesel buses with more efficient and less polluting ones, for the scrapping of polluting stoves, and to reduce the impact of plastic.

Andrea Zanoni also accused Luca Zaia, President of Veneto, of not having any concrete action to combat climate change in the budget presented.   

As said above, the regional council was flooded for the first time in history. What you think, maybe this wasn't a coincidence?
