A Florida television reporter called Victoria Price discovered she had cancer after a viewer noticed a lump on her neck. She will now be undergoing surgery to remove the tumor, her thyroid, and a few lymph nodes.

The series of events began in June when a concerned viewer wrote a scary email to Price.

"Hi, just saw your news report. What concerned me is the lump on your neck. Please have your thyroid checked. Reminds me of my neck. Mine turned out to be cancer. Take care of your self," the viewer wrote, with the entire text in the email's subject line.

At first, Price did not know how to react, reported WFLA, the network Price works for. It was her boyfriend who then pushed her to contact her primary care physician to get the lump checked.

Her doctor confirmed her worst fears: something could be wrong. Then, an ultrasound found a nodule growing on her thyroid. Tampa General Hospital cancer specialists revealed that Price's lump was indeed thyroid cancer and, worse, it was spreading to her lymph nodes.

Price shared that had she never received the concerned viewer's email she would have never thought to check the lump and the cancer would have continued to spread. She expressed gratitude towards the viewer who she said had "zero-obligation" toward her.

Price will now be taking off a week from work to undergo the surgery and have a CT scan and biopsy for other lymph nodes to reassure herself that the cancer has not spread. The journalist further explained how her busy schedule working since the pandemic started kept her from noticing her own potential health issues.

Due to work, her own health was the last thing on her mind. Finally, Price also said she has written an email to thank the viewer who warned her but has not received any reply.
