The delivery of the new batteries, developed by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, comes after a signed agreement between the Israeli Ministry of Defense (MoD) and the U.S. Department of Defense.

It's been a busy holiday season for the U.S. Army, which also received two brand new unmanned robotic scouts in late December.
This time, the U.S. Army received the second of its two pre-ordered Iron Dome missile batteries, the first of which was delivered in September 2020.
Each of these batteries includes launchers and missiles made by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, reported the Times of Israel, as well as a radar array developed by the ELTA defense contractor, and a command-and-control center made by mPrest firm.
The plan for the Iron Dome Defense System batteries is to protect U.S. troops "against a variety of ballistic and aerial threats," as read the MoD's Twitter post.
The Iron Dome is the world's most deployed missile defense system, as Rafael Advanced Defense Systems states. It has over 2,000 interceptions, and a success rate of over 90%.
The multi-mission system defends against "rockets, mortars and artillery shells, as well as aircraft, helicopters, and UAV at very short range," explains the company that develops it.
Moreover, the system can protect deployed and maneuvering forces, as well as Forward Operating Base (FOB) and urban areas from a number of indirect and aerial threats.
With regards to Sunday's delivery, Israel's Defense Minister Gantz stated that "the delivery of the Iron Dome to the U.S. Army demonstrates the close relations between the Israel MOD and the U.S. Department of Defense, the effectiveness of the system against various threats, and the excellent capabilities of Israeli industries."
