The age of the smart house is drawing nearer as most household electronics can be controlled from your smartphone with minimal technology. There is one area of the house that still operates fairly manually, and that is the kitchen. Some people love cooking, and for others, it is the bane of their existence. Regardless of your opinion, you have to admit that cooking takes a lot of time and often your recipe doesn't turn out to be as good as expected. However, cooking gourmet meals may no longer be an arduous process but rather the Innit oven will cook you meals with the ingredients in your house. The Innit system senses what's in your fridge, helps you determine what recipe to use, and then cooks the food in the oven after determining the best way to cook the food.
The company behind this innovative project has a lot of big names, including former White House Chef Sam Kass. This technology works through a system of sensors installed on your refrigerator door. They sense the foods you have stored, and can automatically select the recipes you can cook with. According to Tech Insider, currently the foods need to be facing the sensor, but in the future, improvements on this constraint will be made.
Another added bonus to the technology is that the integrated app allows you to see inside of your fridge from wherever, which would be great for when you're at the store. Not only this, but the system keeps track of expiration dates and alerts you when something is going bad.
Perhaps the best part of this system is that it can be integrated with modern appliances, so all you need to do is buy the Innit sensors. The company will also be partnering with major brands to integrate their technology into newer appliance systems. There's no word on pricing, but the company has already received upwards of US$20 million in funding, so it looks like smart kitchens will be upon us very soon.
