Sony Showcases PS5 specs, price, release date
Sony might have planned on a September 16 showcase from the start, but it now stands in competitive response to Microsoft — which unveiled nearly everything about its Xbox Series S / X consoles — including the consoles' release date, specs, and price, after a lead last week.
Everyone is wondering whether Sony will outdo Microsoft's $299 initial price for the Xbox Series S, or at least match the Xbox Series X, which is priced at $499. The answers are likely coming today.
Sony has said its 40-minute broadcast will include updates on first-party games from Sony studios, in addition to third-party-partner games at and right after the PS5's launch window. These will likely occupy most of the showcase's runtime, reports The Verge.
