Ten Celebrities You Didn't Know Studied Engineering
Engineering affects almost every part of our life. From food packaging to public transport, from city design to medicine. While most people that study engineering at university go on to have professional careers in the industry others find a different life path.

1. Rowan Atkinson, Actor (Mr. Bean)
Before bringing the constantly in trouble Mr. Bean, into our lives, Rowan Atkinson obtained his bachelor’s in electrical engineering from Newcastle University. in 1975. He continued his studies and proudly graduated with an MSc in Electrical Engineering from The Queen’s College, Oxford.
Atkinson honed his passion for acting while at university joining a variety of clubs, including the Oxford University Dramatic Society and the Oxford Revue as well as the Experimental Theater Group. Eventually, his love for the stage won and he left engineering to pursue acting full time.
2. Cindy Crawford
While she attended for only one quarter before the world swooned over Crawford's classic beauty; she was a chemical engineering student at Northwestern University in Chicago.
3. Ashton Kutcher
He may not look like an engineer, Ashton Kutcher holds a degree in Biochemical Engineering from the University of Iowa. Kutcher most famous for being married to Demi Moore. He is a pretty savvy investor; ‘That 70’s show’ star invested early in Uber and now has a net worth of more than $200 million.
4. Donald Sutherland
Donald Sutherland has had a long career on the silver screen, starring in many major films. In recent years is best remembered for making us fear him us in the Hunger Games series. But before he turned his attention to Hollywood, Sutherland graduated with a Chemical Engineering degree from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.
5. Teri Hatcher
The successful actor graduated with a degree in Mathematics and Engineering. Hatcher became a household name as Lois Lane in Lois and Clark: The new adventures of Superman. In 2006, Hatcher became one of the highest earning actors for her part in Desperate Housewives, where she reportedly earned more than a quarter of a million dollars per episode.
6. Taapsee Pannu
Taapsee Pannu is a model and actor based in India. Before becoming a household name she completed a degree in Computer Engineering and worked in software development. Her office days are far behind her now though, this year alone she has four major feature-length films being released.
7. Chris Vance
Chris Vance has played gritty roles in US TV shows Mental and Prison Break. But before he became a small screen fixture, Vance graduated from Newcastle University with a degree in Civil Engineering. The UK-born actor changed career after getting a role in the cult classic show 'The Bill'.
8 Dolph Lundgren
Dolph Lundgren may have played parts where brawn is more important than brain but off-screen he is in fact highly intelligent. The Swedish born actor graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.
9. Sonu Sood
One of the biggest names in Bollywood Sonu Sood is famous for being a rebel and bad boy on the screen. But he was, in fact, a dedicated student graduating from a degree in electronics engineering.
10. Dennis Bergkamp
Best known for being one of the deadliest strikers in professional football, Bergkamp scored more than 120 goals while playing for Arsenal. Bergkamp was born in the Netherlands but studied a bachelor of mechanical engineering at the University of Bath even while playing professional football.
