Elon Musk's Tesla delivering ventilators to New York State
Tesla CEO Elon Musk will have Medtronic, Philips, and ResMed ventilators delivered to New York hospitals Thursday night, according to his recent tweet. "Working on that with Medtronic. Given NY pressing needs, we're delivering Resmed (sic), Philips, & Medtronic ventilatrors to NY hospitals starting tonight," tweeted Musk.
He announced in reply to another account, "Tesla Owners Silicon Valley," which asked for updates on ventilator production.
The imminent delivery of crucial ventilators to New York State comes one short day after Musk assured the world that the company's Gigafactory in Buffalo, New York, would reopen "as soon as humanly possible," to manufacture ventilators and assist New York in its fight to curb the COVID-19 outbreak.
Musk posted news of the reopening factory on Wednesday, adding that his company would do "anything in their power to help the citizens of New York."
Elon Musk heeds New York Mayor Bill de Blasio's call
Musk's saving throw also comes roughly a week following New York Mayor Bill de Blasio replying directly to an earlier tweet of Musk's that asked which hospitals were experiencing ventilator shortages.
In the reply, de Blasio clarified that New York hospitals were experiencing serious shortages in medical supplies.
