This custom Suzuki GT380, designed by Sean Pelletier of fabrication shop Motoworks and Jeremy Lacy, seems to have one wheel planted firmly in the past and another in the future.

The retro-futuristic stylings of this minimalistic custom motorcycle, with its contemporary angular form and classic finish, give it a truly timeless feel.

A timeless redesign

The design was built around a donor Suzuki GT380, which Sean Pelletier and designer collaborator Jeremy Lacy stripped apart before creating concept sketches for their redesign.

As Pelletier explained to Yanko Design, the concept sketch process made things run much more smoothly.

The concept sketches allowed for any new parts that were being considered to be measured, before fabrication, as part of the design process. That way, Pelletier and Lacy could be sure their design would work before committing to building it.

"Since the pieces were all carefully designed in CAD, no time was wasted in reworking things once they were built," Pelletier explained to Yanko Design.

"For example, we didn’t have to worry about the front fender hitting the fairing because we already moved the parts around in CAD to make sure there was no interference anywhere within the range of travel," Pelletier continued.

The custom bike was fitted with a sleek new fiberglass bodywork as well as an aluminum fuel tank.

A leather seat, an HID headlamp, and that white paint job finish off that sleek classic look with a modern twist that makes it difficult to categorize this stunning design.

6 months of designing and crafting

Pelletier explains that the entire process of designing and building the retro-futuristic custom design took him and Jeremy Lacy 6 months of working 20-hour weeks.

The final design is a sight to behold: the minimalistic color scheme gives it an understated familiar feel while the form makes the motorcycle look fresh and contemporary.
