You Can Now Tweet Voice Messages of up to 140 Seconds

Twitter has debuted voice tweets on iOS and we could not be more excited. The new feature includes a user's profile picture with a play button that allows you to listen to up to 140 seconds of audio.

"Twitter is where you go to talk about what’s happening. Over the years, photos, videos, gifs, and extra characters have allowed you to add your own flair and personality to your conversations. But sometimes 280 characters aren’t enough and some conversational nuances are lost in translation. So starting today, we’re testing a new feature that will add a more human touch to the way we use Twitter – your very own voice," announced Twitter in its blog on the matter.
To use this new feature you simply open the Tweet composer and tap the new icon with wavelengths. There you will notice your profile photo with the record button at the bottom. It is this button that you tap to record your voice.
Each voice Tweet can tackle up to 140 seconds of audio. But if you have more to say you can just keep talking and a new voice Tweet will start automatically to create a thread.
Your voice Tweets will appear on people's timelines alongside other Tweets. Listening is simple: simply tap the image. Playback will start in a new window at the bottom of your timeline so it doesn't interfere with what you are doing on your phone. Pretty convenient!
For now, the feature will only be available to a limited amount of people on iOS. However, in the coming weeks, everyone on iOS should be able to use the feature.
"There’s a lot that can be left unsaid or uninterpreted using text, so we hope voice Tweeting will create a more human experience for listeners and storytellers alike," said Twitter further on its blog. We couldn't agree more.
