Plastic is everywhere in our lives, so many things we use in our daily lives are made of plastic. But even though most of us heard at least once in our lives about the dangerous side effects of plastic on the environment, few of us do something to change the "normalization" of plastic in the world.
But who doesn't want to leave a bright, clean future and environment for their children? It may seem like something you can't change as a person but acting as a mass can change everything. And right now in the world, many brands and countries try to change this situation.
In late May, Czechia has come up with a brilliant idea. In Prague, drugstores started to sell packaging-free cleaning liquids. The drugstore DM started to test the sale of liquid laundry detergent, dish soap, and other liquid cleaning products of the eco-friendly brand Tierra Verde without plastic packages. Customers who wanted to buy these products needed to return to DM with a reusable 1 or 1.5-liter bottle.
Recently, a Reddit user named Lord-AG has shared a photo of a machine in a German pharmacies Rossmann which can be found in Czechia. This machine is used to refill empty laundry detergent and dishwashing liquid bottles which allows customers to refill their empty product bottle instead of buying one with a plastic bottle every time.
Some drugstores in the Czech Republic introduced shampoo and shower gel filling machines. Customers can refill their empty bottles with various products so they don't have to buy a new one everytime from r/interestingasfuck
Rossmann has partnered with another German brand Henkel, a chemical and consumer goods company, to draw attention to the dangers of plastic usage.
Many countries all around the world have been taking the same kind of steps about refilling instead of buying plastic products.
In Hertfordshire, England, to reduce plastic pollution, free-access to drinking water has given to everyone instead of buying a single-use plastic bottle.
In Rijeka, Croatia, a plastic-free vending machine offers natural products to customers such as extra-virgin olive oil, pumpkin seed oil, apple cider vinegar, wine vinegar, white vinegar, bio-detergent for laundry and for dishes, biological multi-purpose cleaning agent and biological lavender shampoo. Customers should come with their own packaging to utilize the machine. This machine started to work in September 2019 and it's the first plastic-free vending machine of Croatia.
It's not so difficult to reduce the use of plastic, you can even make a refilling machine at home on your own. A user called Log GC in the Instructables website created a shampoo refilling machine and he also explained step-by-step how you can also build it at home.
So, getting rid of plastic and saving our world doesn't sound that difficult if we all do our own parts.
