Elation Reveals ‘Freedom’, a 1,427 HP Jet-Inspired Electric Hypercar

The limited edition cars will cost $2.3 million each and will reach top speeds of 260 mph.

Northern California-based Elation Hypercars has unveiled the Elation Freedom, a limited edition electric hypercar that aims to realize the vision of company founder and CEO Carlos Satulovsky and his team of engineers from Argentina.

The hypercar, which is being built and tested in Silicon Valley, has 1,414 horsepower that can be boosted to 1,903 horsepower via an additional motor. The $2.3 million supercar is set to be shown at the Geneva Motor Show in early 2022 and the first cars will be delivered by the end of the same year.

A Trans-American vision

The team behind the Elation Freedom sees its "Trans-American Philosophy" as a distinct advantage, in the increasingly populated electric hypercar space. As per Robb Report, Satulovsky believes his company provides the perfect blend of Argentina’s motorsport DNA and the technological innovation of Silicon Valley.

Not only is the car a product of two international philosophies, it also draws inspiration from outside of the automotive industry for its design and engineering.

Growing up in Argentina, Satulovsky had started taking flying lessons in a Piper Cub at 15, and in 1986 he and a close friend planned to start a factory to build ultralight aircraft before the country's economy took a downturn.

The design of the Elation Freedom clearly exhibits inspiration from Satulovsky's aircraft days, with its jet-inspired rear being a particular highlight.

Elation Freedom specs

Elation Hypercars projects that the Elation Freedom will have a 1.8-second zero to 60 time, and a top speed of 260 mph (418 km/h). A 400-mile (643 km) range, meanwhile, will make it very competitive in the electric hypercar market.

The two-seat car sports a carbon-fiber chassis that weighs only 180 pounds (81 Kg). Its starting option of three liquid-cooled electric motors enables the car to produce "over one megawatt of power as standard—equivalent to a personal jet of comparable weight traveling at 322 miles per hour (518 km/h) at full throttle," the company explained in a press release. "The driver directs all this power from an elegant, fighter-jet-inspired cockpit."

Customers will be able to choose from a 100-kilowatt-hour (kWh) standard battery pack and a 120-kWh upgrade that enables the car to reach the stated 400-mile range.
