Even though 3D printing has been around for some time now, all of its practical uses are still emerging. From rapid prototyping to fun weekend projects, there's not a lot that you can't do with a 3D printer. One YouTuber is using his printer on overdrive and creating working scale models of car engines, transmissions, and differentials. The final products could almost be compareD to works of kinetic art. Check out the videos of his creations below.
If these videos don't help you realize the awesome potential that 3D printers hold, I don't know what will. While the parts are only made out of plastic and likely couldn't withstand practical usage, their ability to quickly and rapidly produce machines is unmatched. As advances in metal 3D printing and methods using other stronger materials are made, it is likely that we start seeing this rapid prototyping implemented on a larger scale in manufacturing.
Which one of these incredible 3D printed creations was your favorite? If you own a 3D printer, what is the most complex thing that you have ever built with it? Let us know in the comments.
