If you consider a household chore tool as being a suitable gift for such a romantic occasion you should be prepared for the fallout.

Of course, if you and your partner love nothing more than winding each other up, an iron might also be the most perfect gift imaginable. For best results place the iron in a box of something else they really want.

2. They might not appreciate Bitcoin either

Giving the gift of money, or another financially-based item is rarely a good idea for Valentine's Day. The same goes for digital cryptocurrencies, according to a video by CNET.

In the vast majority of cases, giving money tends to show your significant other that you had no idea what to buy them. They would probably prefer that you make something yourself.

That being said, it could also be the perfect gift if they are "all-in" with crypto. If that is the case, it will show them that you really do listen to them and understand what is important to them.

3. Don't buy an Android-lover iPhone stuff (and vice versa)

Giving your significant other incompatible tech is also a big no, no. For example, if they are a dyed-in-the-wool Android user, they will neither appreciate nor be able to use an iPhone accessory (and vice versa).

This will not only be a complete waste of money, but it might also offend their sensibilities. But for those who know that iPhones are inferior to Android-alternatives (yes we went there), your Android phone gift could be a life-changing event.

Funnily enough, this might be taken the wrong way. Nobody likes to be told, evenly suitably, that their physical appearance could do with some improvement.

While you might be giving the gift with the best of intentions, your partner might be offended.
