Busy Engineer Developed a Chatting Bot to Text His Girlfriend
In the modern world, we’re always busy with our careers and responsibilities which makes it harder to spend quality social time. However, almost everyone is using one or more social media channels and/or various messaging apps in order to stay in touch with their loved ones. In some situations though, that may not be the case.
One smart engineer Li KaiXiang had a very busy schedule with his long work hours and a relationship that required more attention than the young man had time to show. He came up with an uncanny solution using his software engineering skills. KaiXiang developed an AI bot that responds when his girlfriend texts.
One of the texts the bot has sent the girlfriend reads “Baby, this is our 618th day together. Hope you’ll feel bright as the sun”. Surprisingly enough, she sent and received almost 300 texts a day while the bot was active. The young woman kept texting back thinking that it’s her boyfriend she’s texting, while it was the AI bot KaiXiang had developed all along.

It wasn’t long before the young woman realized that something was off though. She was suspicious, as the bot responded way too quickly compared to KaiXiang. She then asked the bot "How was this designed?” and the whole thing was over.
Sharing his unexpected story on Weibo, China’s largest social networking app, KaiXiang has also stated that the bot he developed was meant to text back his girlfriend 24/7. Some users laughed at the case, while some users wanted a ''source code'' and a ''how to'' tutorial from KaiXiang.
While the young man no longer has an active profile on social media, the hilarious screenshots are going to be around the web for a long time.
