Every Single Airport On Earth Will Be Featured in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, the impressive game unveiled at E3 last year, will feature every single airport on Earth. Yes! You read that correctly: every single one.
Developer Asobo Studio has put in an amazing amount of work into this game that is hyper-realistic, and now they are offering players the chance to fly anywhere on the planet. If that's not something to get excited about, then I don't know what is.
To be clear, there are 37,000 airports on Earth and all these were manually designed in the game to look just like their real-world counterparts. In addition, the 80 most frequented airports will be given extra attention to detail.
Asobo Studio revealed all this in a video that is shared on YouTube. The previous game featured only 24,000 airports so this addition is quite a leap.
The airports will also be a bit livelier to make them more realistic. The game will show things you may actually see at an airport such service vehicles making their way around and workers doing their airport jobs
All this is part of Asobo Studio's dedication to making the simulation realistic. All this was achieved via the use of real satellite images.
Lead game designer Sven Mestas explained to Lad Bible how the team used both Bing Maps, as well as Microsoft's Azure cloud tech to generate the terrain and buildings.
"In order to reach a new level of reality in flight simulation, we needed a new approach," he said. "That's why we decided to innovate by editing airports from real satellite pictures. This technique involves editing each airport manually, which means particular attention to detail has been given to every single one of them, to bring them a step closer to reality."
The end result is a game that is bound to impress anyone who gets their hands on it, whether they are a flying enthusiast or not.
