Israel Upgrades Iron Dome Rocket Defense System

Israel's Defense Ministry announced on Tuesday that it had carried out successful upgrades and tests on its Iron Dome rocket defense system.
The upgrades will enable the defense system to cope with additional simultaneous aerial threats. The Ministry of Defense and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems were in charge of the upgrades and tests, significantly improving the Iron Dome's technological defense capabilities.
During its recent tests, the Iron Dome successfully intercepted a barrage of simultaneous drone, missile, and rocket threats.
What the Iron Dome can do
The latest tests took place in the South of Israel, The Jerusalem Post reported, with the assistance of the IAF Air Defense Command.
The Iron Dome's newest capabilities were tested over a range of complex scenarios involving simultaneous attacks from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), rockets, and missiles.
The rocket defense system was able to safely and successfully intercept and destroy these simultaneous threats.

The system's prime contractor is Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, while its radar, which is able to detect where an incoming missile will land is developed by ELTA, and mPrest is in charge of the system's command and control system.
In a statement on Twitter, the Ministry of Defense said "The Iron Dome was tested in a range of complex scenarios and successfully intercepted and destroyed targets simulating existing and emerging threats, including the simultaneous interception of multiple UAVs as well as a salvo of rockets and missiles."
This latest version of the Iron Dome will soon be delivered to the Israeli Air Force and the country's Navy for operational use in a bid to enhance the nation's multitiered missile-defense system, per The Jerusalem Post.
In January 2021, Israel shipped its second Iron Dome missile battery to the U.S. Perhaps this upgraded version will also be sold and shipped to other nations' defense departments, too.
