Monstrous 7-Screen Laptop Puts Multiscreen PC Setups to Shame

Now you can program, procrastinate, and check your mail in multiple ways all at the same time.

Multiscreen PC setups are common practice these days for professionals who want to up their productivity by running several programs simultaneously.

UK-based Expanscape has taken it to the next level by offering a portable 7-screen laptop that unfolds like a swiss army knife to maximize screen space.

The bulky, yet portable, Aurora 7 is so far only in the prototype stage, though Expanscape does plan to bring it to the market in the near future, Yanko Design writes.

Though the company has yet to reveal any specific dates, it plans to have the commercial version of Aurora 7 ready as soon as possible.

As far as specs go, the laptop has a 17.3-inch main screen, as well as three other 17.3-inch displays that swivel outwards — one of these is in landscape orientation while the other two are in portrait configuration. All of these have a 3840×2160 resolution, running at 60Hz.

That's not all, of course: three more auxiliary displays, with a 1920×1200 resolution, fold out to expand the already-sizable workspace even further.

Monster specs for a 7-screen machine

The laptop runs on n Intel Core i9-9900K processor with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card. In order to account for all of those screens running programs at the same time, the machine includes a 64GB DD4 memory as well as several drive options for storage convenience.

Then, of course, there's the battery life. Though Expanscape has loaded Aurora 7 with dual batteries — one 82Whr and the other 148 Whr — the laptop's battery unsurprisingly lasts a little over two hours under normal load conditions.

Weighing in at 17 kg (37 lb), the Aurora 7 will also give you a great leg workout as you carry it from one location to another.

All joking aside, if the design for the multiscreen portable setup is cleaned somewhat and made a little lighter, it could be a great piece of equipment for cybersecurity specialists, full-stack programmers, data scientists, and the like.

Still, we're pretty sure anyone unfolding the prototype beast in their local cafe will probably have their government's intelligence agency on their case before long.
