Childhood Restored: Nintendo plans to release smaller version of classic NES

Nintendo released the Nintendo Entertainment System over 30 years ago. This year, it's releasing the classic console in a miniaturized version: the NES Classic Edition.
This little box would literally be a game-changer.
You can preorder one here. The systems cost $60 and fit in the palm of your hand.
The classic includes 30 NES games, including favorites like Super Mario Bros. Metroid, Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, and Kirby's Adventure. All games are built right into the hardware, so no need to buy additional cartridges.
Unfortunately, you can't use your classic NES cartridges with the new system. Looks can be so deceiving.
You also won't be able to use your original NES gamepad with it, either. The Classic Edition comes with a new version of the old gamepad with a similar look as the original. For the select two-player games, Nintendo sells a second NES Classic controller for an additional $10.
Nintendo recreated the classic games to play in multiple styles. The Classic Edition offers games in original 4:3 resolution or CRT Mode which looks similar to what you'd see in arcades.
Unlike the old NES system, Classic allows players to suspend the game midplay rather than stare at a pause screen. There are four save slots per game.
Even the packaging looks straight out of 1990. Clearly, Nintendo knows exactly to whom its marketing.
