Tesla Autopilot Feature will 'Soon' Drive You to Work Without Any Input

Elon Musk has revealed that the electric car company is testing software so that a Tesla car will be able to drive with no driver input at all.
“Already testing traffic lights, stop signs & roundabouts in development software. Your Tesla will soon be able to go from your garage at home to parking at work with no driver input at all,” Musks tweet reads.
One Tesla fan asked if the software release had made it through the tough EU regulations. Musk replied that they are still waiting for EU regulatory approval.

Musk is also encouraging Tesla drivers to try out the ‘Navigate’ feature in Autopilot mode. The former CEO of Tesla claims it will ‘blow your mind’. “If you have a Tesla built in past 2 years, definitely try Navigate on Autopilot. It will blow your mind. Automatically passes slow cars & takes highway interchanges & off-ramps,” he wrote.

Autopilot being tested on roundabouts and traffic lights
If Musk has his way the next update could see Tesla cars driving on familiar routes with no input. Musk says the feature will be available ‘soon’ but when that is very unclear.
Even if Tesla can get the technology up and running they may still face regulatory problems as legislation struggles to keep up with the fast-paced advances in autonomous driving. The release notes of Software Version 9.0 describe the Navigate Feature as the most advanced feature yet.
“Navigate on Autopilot is an active guidance feature that, with driver supervision, guides a car from a highway on-ramp to off-ramp, including suggesting lane changes, navigating highway interchanges and taking exits.

It’s designed to make finding and following the most efficient path to your destination even easier on the highway when Autopilot is in use.”
The notes continue, “Once a destination is entered into the navigation, drivers can choose to enable “Navigate on Autopilot” for that trip, and the feature is then activated when Autosteer is engaged via the normal prompt on the cruise control stalk (Model S and Model X) or gear selector stalk (Model 3).
When a lane change is suggested, drivers must confirm that they’re ready by tapping the turn signal (for Model S and Model X, the turn signal or cruise control stalk).
Drivers can continue to use Autosteer and other Enhanced Autopilot features without Navigate on Autopilot anytime they choose to."
Tesla determined to deliver fill autonomous driving
Navigate on Autopilot was initially held back from the software update but was released to customers about a month ago.
Musk’s tweet might show that not many drivers are utilizing the feature. Musk is pushing hard for Tesla to be the first production car on the road to offer a fully autonomous driving experience.
