The handset has a 64bit Snapdragon CPU inside it and it runs KitKat 4.4. It could be updated to the most recent version, Android 5.0 Lollipop, if Vivo send out the update in the future. The X5Max comes with a Super AMOLED display that is 5.5 inches and offers a resolution of 1920 x 1080 at 400ppi. There is a custom skin installed on the handset which Vivo call Funtouch and seems to take on the look of iOS. It even copies the quick settings that can be launched by swiping up from the bottom of the display where Android owners normally have to swipe down.

While the device may be the thinnest in the world it comes with a full sized 3.5mm headphone jack and it takes two SIM cards, these can either be micro or nano SIM card. The holder can alternatively hold a micro SIM card and microSD card.

Vivo have worked hard on the audio offered by the handset and they have even given it a dedicated audio chip that comes with karaoke mode. This allows the owner to sing along with music and adds in echo and reverb.

At the moment there is no news of the release date in the US, the X5Max is being released in China 12 December for the equivalent of US$486. Other devices from Vivo have made it to the US so there is no reason to doubt that the X5Max will follow suit.
