DefinedCrowd is looking for a Computational Linguist with a dedicated mindset. The candidate is expected to be a strong critical thinker, reliable and transparent, with an ability to learn and communicate. 
Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with data scientists and engineers to create excellent resources for data collection and processing
  • Consulting with team members within your domain knowledge and troubleshooting potential issues;
  • Applying your knowledge in research to solve and productize hard problems in a crowdsourcing context
  • Carrying out structured, concise, and reproducible data analysis that generates insight on different types of data.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Linguistics, Computational Linguistics or a similar field
  • MSc/PhD in Natural Language Processing or equivalent is a plus
  • Knowledge in Linguistics (Phonetics, Phonology, Morphology, Syntax, Semantics, Prosody, etc.)
  • Knowledge in Acoustic Phonetics (Phonology, Prosody, Signal Processing)
  • Relevant work or publications in Speech Processing or Linguistics fields
  • Previous experience with linguistic preprocessing (tokenization, normalization, grapheme to phoneme conversion)
  • Experience with software (Praat, Tools using R or Matlab, Excel) is a plus
  • Scripting or programming experience with Python
  • Enterprise experience in Speech Processing
  • Excellent command of Regular Expressions
