The first few days in a new job can sometimes feel a bit wobbly and uncertain as you find your footing. It's quite normal to make a few mistakes, and it seems new employees at Lamborghini are no exception.

The Italian carmaker has had to recall 26 of its new Aventador SVJ cars manufactured between December 2019 and January 2020 because an employee badly fitted the doors. You may be able to get into your flashy new supercar, but you may not be able to get back out again.

There are worse places to be stuck

It has to be said that there certainly are worse places to be stuck than inside your brand spanking new Aventador SVJ, however, you would still expect it to function as planned.

Moreover, and more importantly, should there be any case of an accident or emergency scenario the last thing that should be happening is being trapped in your car because of an assembly malfunction.

So it's only wise that Lamborghini recalls the faulty supercars.

As the company describes the issue in a statement posted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), "During the assembly, a not properly trained new operator may have not correctly engaged the bowden cable pin inside the internal door handles."

It looks like it's the "new guy" who got it wrong.

The new car door looks like it can fail without any prior warning. There's no issue with operating the outside of the car door handle because these require different mechanisms, so it is still possible to get out of the supercar if there's someone around to help out.

Lamborghini discovered the issue during their end-of-line quality controls. After following an internal investigation that uncovered the problem, Lamborghini took the decision to recall the cars that were manufactured between December 2019 and January 2020.

The new owners of the cars will be contacted by Lamborghini soon, and their Aventador SVJ inner door handles will be replaced. The repairs are set to begin around May 1st, as per the NHTSA statement

These supercars are something to behold with their V12 engine making 770 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque.
