Minecraft Player Builds 1:1 Scale Model of the Earth, It Is as Real as It Gets

Bored much? You can actually join him by building a 1:1 scale model of your city in Minecraft.

The coronavirus might have restricted you from going out; however, this doesn’t mean that you can’t go on a trip around the globe, much like in the 2000s when we would skim the Google Earth in search of our homes, but this time in Minecraft.

YouTuber PippenFTS has built our planet Earth in Minecraft, and if you think what you'll see is going to be a tiny model, well, let's just say that you're dead wrong. His astonishing project of Earth in a 1:1 scale model looks the same as the satellite images that we've been long accustomed to seeing.

In this video, PippenFTS explains how he brought this insane project to life while climbing Mount Everest in Minecraft. As you'd imagine, it is a rather long journey.

What does it take to build Earth on Minecraft?

PippenFTS made this virtual-Earth possible by using Cubic Chunks and the Terra 1 to 1 mod. In case you don’t know, the Cubic Chunks is a mod that gives players an infinite build depth in both vertical directions -- yes, it is as crazy as it sounds.

On the other hand, Terra 1 to 1 mod takes data from Google Maps and other geographical data sources. Then, the mod uses all that information to create the 1:1 scale model of our planet in Minecraft Terrain Generation.

The large amounts of data make the final product incredibly realistic.

Are you a Minecraft player? If so, go and participate!

If you're an avid-Minecraft player, you might be more interested in this than the average interesting-stuff-hunter. You can actually participate in this huge project by joining this Discord server, and start building your own city in buildings and city blocks.

Let’s imagine that every single Minecraft player were to participate in this project; we’d have a twin Earth, located in Minecraft servers in no time.

PippenFTS explains how you can be a part of this project in detail and demonstrates how you can use the mods to build Earth without any limitations.

If you’re in lockdown, without nothing to do, why not roll up your sleeves to play God in Minecraft? It will certainly be more entertaining than huffing away your boredom at home, and it will take you more than seven days, that’s for sure.
