This is the smartphone many Nokia fans around the world have been waiting for. Here is all you need to know about the upcoming Nokia Android flagship smartphone, Nokia 9.2 5G, also known as Nokia 9.2 PureView, or according to some rumors, Nokia 10. But, what's in a name after all? What matters is that it is the next Nokia smartphone.
Together with many other consumer electronics products and industry announcements, the latest Nokia smartphone was set to be unleashed at MWC Barcelona 2020 later in February. However, the GSMA, the organizer of MWC, released an announcement confirming the leading conference and exhibition event was effectively canceled.
On the event's Website, the GSMA released a statement saying that due to safe and healthy concerns in Barcelona and the host country, the GSMA has canceled MWC Barcelona 2020 because of the global concern regarding the coronavirus outbreak, travel concerns, and other circumstances, making it impossible for the GSMA to hold the event.
Some of the other circumstances may include the fact that some of the largest leading technology companies exhibiting at MWC Barcelona had pulled off from the event. One of those companies was Nokia.
HMD’s partnership with Nokia: A little history behind today's Nokia smartphones
Finnish smartphone company HMD Global Oy is behind the Nokia 9.2 PureView. The company is prepared to launch its new Nokia flagship in the first half of this year. Branded as HMD, the company is made up of the mobile phone business that Nokia had sold to Microsoft in 2014 --with subsequent job losses-- and then bought back in 2016. HMD began marketing feature phones under the Nokia brand on December 1, 2016, and has exclusive rights to the Nokia brand for mobile smartphones through a licensing agreement.
In close partnership with Google, HMD uses the Android operating system under the Android One program. HMD is largely run by former Nokia executives and is headquartered in Espoo, Finland. All manufacturing is outsourced to Foxconn Electronics Inc.
Nokia remains a partner, providing patents and the technology that made Nokia a leading global mobile phone and smartphone maker in the past before the company fell on Stephen Elop’s leadership resulting in selling the Nokia devices division to Elop’s former employer, Microsoft.
Back to the present, the Nokia 9.2 PureView could be a first in the mobile world, featuring an under-display selfie camera. And of course, it will be 5G ready. Let’s have a look at a detailed round on the rumored specifications and features related to Nokia 9.2 PureView powered by Snapdragon 865.
