The CIA Just Released All Its UFO Documents for Everyone to Download
Thanks to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), documents upon documents from the CIA about unidentified flying objects are now available and free to download.
The Black Vault website is where you'll find and be able to download these thousands of declassified CIA documents about Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) — the CIA's official term for UFOs.
Some of these reports date back to the 1980s that the site's founder, John Greenewald Jr., took a lot of effort and energy in gathering.
As per Greenewald, who's been connecting with the CIA since 1996 to get his hands on its UFO declassified documents, the agency claims these are all of its documents on UFOs.
2/ For the past nearly two years, I have an open "Mandatory Declassification Review" request to HOPEFULLY get some of these redactions lifted, so we can see what was hand delivered, and what his advice may be. Greenewald will keep searching and uncovering as many UFO-related documents from the CIA as possible, he mentioned.
When explaining the amount of work he's put into this research, Greenewald stated that "The Black Vault has filed 10,000 FOIA requests in total to amass the 2.2 million pages in this entire archive."
That's a hefty — and fascinating — archive.
According to him, the CIA made a CD-ROM with previously released records, as well as including documents The Black Vault was after and trying to unseal. So back in mid-2020, The Black Vault bought that CD-ROM.
The CIA hasn't made the collection of these documents an easy task. As Greenewald told VICE, "Researchers and curious minds alike prefer simplicity and accessibility when they look at data dumps such as these."
"The CIA has made it INCREDIBLY difficult to use their records in a reasonable manner. They offer a format that is very outdated (multi-page.tif) and offer text file outputs, largely unusable, that I think they intend to have people use as a "search" tool. In my opinion, this outdated format makes it very difficult for people to see the documents, and use them, for any research purpose."
