Gigantic Alligator Spotted in Florida Is Freaking People Out

Somebody call the rangers, there's a Jurassic Park runaway.

Golfing typically involves a few distractions, such as sand bunkers, little hills, foliage, etc. That's about as crazy as it gets for golfers. The last thing you'd expect to see in your line of vision as you aim for the wee flag on the green is a monstrous alligator.

This isn't a prop, nor a joke. A real, gigantic, dinosaur-esque alligator was spotted prowling the greens of the Valencia Golf and Country Club in Florida on Thursday, as reported by the Tampa Bay Times.

Okay, so maybe you're more likely to come across one of these large reptiles in the tropical Floridian climate, but not one as big as this one.

Modern-day dinosaur

We'll happily watch movies such as Jurassic Park from the safety of our couch, but we're not quite prepared for a face-off with one of its mighty creatures.

Even by Florida standards, this gator was a monster. "I was a little shocked, obviously," Tyler Stolting, the first assistant golf professional at the club who took a video of it, told the New York Post on Thursday.

"It was pretty big, biggest one I’ve ever seen!"

Stolting continued, "I’ve been here a long time and I’m not surprised to see it walking across the golf course, I am a little surprised at how big it was."

See, even locals are surprised, let alone anyone who isn't used to Florida's swampy sharp-toothed reptiles. It's enough to send shivers down your spine — and keep you away from golf courses. Sorry golf fans, it's just not up to par.

The infamous alligator is racking up a storm on social media, and it's easy to see why given its dinosaur-like look.

It's most plausible that he ended up on the golf course following the Tropical Storm Eta, which ravaged through Florida, per NBC News.
