UK to Power All Homes with Offshore Wind by 2030
Every home in the UK will be powered by offshore wind energy by 2030, said the country's prime minister Boris Johnson on Tuesday at a Conservative party conference, reported the BBC.

The politician said his country would become "the world leader in clean wind energy" and the "Saudi Arabia of wind power." "As Saudi Arabia is to oil, the UK is to wind - a place of almost limitless resource, but in the case of wind without the carbon emissions and without the damage to the environment," Johnson said.
"Your kettle, your washing machine, your cooker, your heating, your plug-in electric vehicle - the whole lot of them will get their juice cleanly and without guilt from the breezes that blow around these islands," he added.
To achieve this, the country will invest $207 million (£160 million) in building turbines in Teesside and Humber in northern England, as well as sites in Scotland and Wales, to help the country "build back greener". The move will see 2,000 jobs in construction created and 60,000 more supported
“We believe that in 10 years’ time offshore wind will be powering every home in the country, with our target rising from 30 gigawatts to 40 gigawatts,” Johnson promised. Johnson's government has been under attack the last few months for failing to produce a plan that would put the UK on track to meet its goal of reaching a net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
This may be why the prime minister has been so adamant about creating a greener future and emphasizing his support for offshore wind power. “I remember how some people used to sneer at wind power 20 years ago and say that it wouldn’t pull the skin off a rice pudding,” Johnson said. “It was offshore wind that puffed the sails of Drake and Raleigh and Nelson, and propelled this country to commercial greatness.”
