US Space Force Unveils Inspiring Logo and Motto

"Semper Supra," or, Always Above, is the U.S. Space Force's official motto, shared on Wednesday, July 22nd. 

The inspiring motto and the Force's logo were disclosed at the Pentagon in Washington D.C., as the service looks to strengthen and embolden its branding and cultural identity.

The logo and motto

The U.S. Space Force's stylish silver and black logo depicts a Delta sign, a symbol that's been in use since 1961. As per the Force, its reason for using the Delta symbol is to honor the "heritage of the USAF and Space Command."

The Force breaks down its four main points on the logo as follows: 

1. The silver outer lining of the Delta symbol represents the defense and protection of the Force from outside adversaries from space, while the black center section represents the depth and vastness of space. 
2. Within the Delta, the two silver spikes are for rocket launches that the Space Force will undertake to protect its space domain. 
3. The Polaris star in the middle of the Delta shape signifies the guiding light that is the Force's core values. 
4. And finally, the four beveled elements at the bottom center section of the Delta represent the four armed forces supporting the space mission: Air Force, Army, Navy, and Marines. 

As per Space News, the logo was designed by the Department of the Air Force's advertising agency, GSD&M. As the company states in its first commercial (see below) for the Space Force "Maybe your purpose on this planet isn’t on this planet."

The Space Force has been active this year, it unveiled its first official offensive weapon, readying itself for any oncoming threats. And in March, it launched its first-ever Atlas 5 rocket into space.
