Is Weed the New Kale? Study Shows Benefits of Raw Cannabis

Interesting Engineering

New studies claim that cannabis could cure more ailments by consuming it raw than in any other state. Benefits range from anti-inflammatory to preventing fibromyalgia, bowel cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases.

Marijuana includes 400 different chemical compounds like essential oils, acids, vitamins, which are beneficial for the human body. According to Dr. William Courtney, weed has an important role in basic cell functions by its remarkably high concentrated cannabinoid acids. Thus he calls it a 'dietary essential.'

Some studies attest that cannabinoid oil can prevent epileptic seizures, Parkinson diseases, diabetes and even different cancer types. Many bodybuilders are using protein powders made by hemp seeds, instead of chemical supplements as well. But eating raw weed is also a great way to prevent many types of cancer and various diseases, says Dr. Courtney.

What is Cannabinoid Acid?

There are two primary cannabinoid acids, called THCa and CBDa, which are working differently. When you heat CBDa and THCa via vaping, smoking or cooking, the component becomes different chemicals in a process called decarboxylation, aka “decarbing.” Dr. Courtney explains:

“We have a series of cannabis strains called ACDC. ‘AC’ stands for alternative cannabinoid, which is the CBD acid molecule, which has come into focus lately as being very important as an anti-inflammatory. And ‘DC’ stands for dietary cannabis. If you do heat it, then your dose is around 10mg. And if you don’t heat it, if it’s raw, then your dose is around one to 1-2,000mg.”

Eating raw cannabis enables your body to process remarkably large amounts of CBDa and THCa without a problem. Human metabolism converts them into the nutrients it needs. Consuming these cannabinoid acids helps your cells to communicate with each other through an  endo-cannabinoid system. Developing that system could be key to preventing chronic diseases.

Courtney suggests that "High doses of raw CBDa and THCa are much more effective than their broken-down counterparts when it comes to their anti-diabetic, anti-inflammatory and anti-ischemic properties." Like all other leafy greens, cannabis includes highly beneficial essentials that are mostly anticonvulsant, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory. These include terpenes, linalool, pinene, limonene and even Omega 3 & 6 fatty acids.

According to researchers, the human body can't produce essential amino acids by itself. Those aminos help with repairing damaged tissue, transporting nutrients, and maintaining cell structure.

Limonene: Another aptly named terpene, limonene is found in strains with a citrus aroma. Limonene can help prevent gastrointestinal issues, boost metabolism, and lower cholesterol.

Marijuana also is an antioxidant as the U.S. Federal Government patented CBD after discovering that it was a more powerful than vitamins E and C; and has unbelievable antioxidant and neuroprotective properties in 2003.

Despite government restrictions and social stigmas surrounding cannabis, scientists continue working on pinning down the effects of this 'herb.'
