Living near the sea is something many aspire to do, but actually living on it is a little extreme for most.
A couple in Auckland, New Zealand has made an incredible floating house that allows them to enjoy all of their home comforts from the middle of the sea. Take a peek inside via the blog 'Living Big In A Tiny House'.
The 'Blue Turtle'
"Designed to perfectly fit into a 12-meter berth, this wonderful floating home, affectionally named Blue Turtle, is fully featured with two bedrooms, a bathroom and an open plan kitchen, dining, and living area upstairs," the Living Big In A Tiny House blog explains.
The house, which certainly stands out amongst its neighboring motorboats, enjoys panoramic views across the marina in Auckland from its porch-like decks on both floors.
As the blog post explains, "while this is not a cheap build by any means, it’s still a comparatively affordable option for an exceptionally expensive city such as Auckland, and enables [the couple, Olivia and Ryan] to live a dream life, close to town and yet in a place which makes them feel as though they are on permanent vacation."
A mesmerizing interior space
As Olivia explains in the video below, the houseboat, which is 4.6 meters wide and 11.5 long (15x38 feet), is made out of a plywood and fiberglass base.
Ample storage space below the floating home's wrap-around deck allows for a larger living area in the interior space.
The bedrooms were purposefully placed on the bottom floor as the swaying of the boat is less pronounced nearer the water, allowing for a more restful sleep.
Moving on from the bedroom, a staircase leads up to an impressive living area with a balcony and impressive views of the sea from wherever the 'Blue Turtle' is traveling or berthed at any given time.
