It's day one of CES 2020, and Henrik Fisker, former CEO of now-bankrupt Fisker Automotive and current CEO of Fisker Inc. has unveiled what appears to be one of the most competitive EV SUVs announced to date.

Called the Fisker Ocean, the starting price of the vehicle is set at $37,500 and will get between 250 and 300 miles per charge. The most significant notable feature on the SUV is that it has solar panels on the roof to recharge while moving.

The company announced an electric sports car last year at CES, but mid-year announced that the company would be focusing most of its efforts to bring the now-revealed ocean to market - and it's understandable why. Their electric sports car revealed last year was set to cost into the six figures, which means the market would've been drastically reduced. The Fisker Ocean seems to be highly competitive if they can follow through with production.

One unique approach Fisker has taken with the car is how it plans to allow users to pay for driving it. They announced a lease program that starts at $379 per month, not bad, but with no long term contract.  That means drivers will be able to drive the car and essentially choose to move on whenever they'd like. No more captive lending or contracts.

The car company claims that the SUV will be able to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 2.9 seconds with a battery pack of 80 kWh.

Fisker has a unique vision and perspective on how a car company should function. He says:

"The human concept of freedom has evolved with instant access to everything through our smartphones. Fisker is the world's first all-digital car company. We are producing electric vehicles with an increased sense of sustainability while creating an immersive experience built around our mobile platform. When we began to design the Fisker Flexee app experience, we wanted to give our customers the power to access critical vehicle information, a unique media gallery, playable assets, and more features that we will be adding over the next several months. Managing a Fisker vehicle and engaging directly with the company will be fun, hassle-free, and at your fingertips – anytime, anywhere."

Fisker also claims that the car will be made with nearly fully recyclable materials with fully-recycled carpeting, and the interior will be 100 percent vegan.

The initial specifications of the Fisker Ocean appear to be impressive and competitive in a market that is started to get crowded. However, since this is only the initial announcement of the vehicle, only time will tell what the EV SUV market will look like in a year and a half when the car actually releases.
